[to The Opening]

Surah 13.  Ar-Ra'd

In the name of ALLAH, the Benevolent, the Merciful

1.  Alif.  Lam.  Meem.  Ra.  These are the signs of The Book.  And that sent down to you from your Lord is the truth, but most of mankind do not keep faith.

2.  ALLAH it is Who raised up the skies without any supports that you can see, and He is established on the Throne.  And He subjected the sun and the moon, each running to an appointed term.  He directs the command, making clear the signs that you may be sure of the meeting with your Lord.

3.  And He it is Who spread out the land and the rivers, and of all fruits, He placed in it two, paired.  He covers the night with the day.  Lo!  Here surely are wonders for a people who take thought.

4.  And in the land are patches side-by-side and gardens of grapes and farms and date-palms growing from one root and distinct roots, watered with the same water; and we make some to excel others in fruit!  Surely, here are wonders for a people who have sense!

5.  And if you are amazed, then amazing are their words "When we are dust, are we then a 'new creation'?"  These are they who deny their Lord, and these have chains on their necks; and these are owners of the fire:  in it they dwell.

6.  And they ask you to bring on the bad before the good, and surely have come before them the examples.  Truly your Lord clings to forgiveness for mankind over their wrong and truly your Lord is intense punishment.

7.  And they say, those who deny, "If no sign is sent down to him from his Lord ..."  But you are only a warner, and for every people, a guide.
