[to The Opening]

Surah 29.  Al-Ankaboot

In the name of ALLAH, the Benevolent, the Merciful

1.  Alif.  Lam.  Mim.

2.  Do men imagine that they will be left because they say, We keep faith, and will not be tested?

3.  Lo!  We tested those who were before you.  Thus ALLAH knows those who are sincere, and knows those who pretend.

4.  Or do those who do ill deeds imagine that they can outstrip Us:  Evil is that which they decide.

5.  Whoso looks forward to the meeting with ALLAH, ALLAH's reckoning is surely near, and He is the Hearer, the Knower.

6.  And whoever strives, strives only for himself, for lo!  ALLAH is altogether Independent of creatures.

7.  And as for those who keep faith and do good works, We shall remit from them their evil deeds and shall repay them the best that they did.

8.  We have enjoined on man kindness to parents; but if they strive to make you join with Me that of which you past no knowledge, then obey them not.  To Me is your return and I shall tell you what you used to do.

9.  And as for those who keep faith and do good works, We verify shall make them enter in among the righteous.

10.  Of mankind is he who says:  We keep faith with ALLAH, but, if he be made to suffer for the sake of ALLAH, he mistakes the persecution of mankind for ALLAH's punishment; and then, if victory comes from your Lord, will say:  Lo!  we were with you.  Is not ALLAH best aware of what is in the bosoms of creatures?

11.  Surely ALLAH knows those who keep faith, and surely He knows the hypocrites.

12.  Those who deny say to those who keep faith:  Follow our way and we surely will bear your sins.  They cannot bear anything of their sins.  Lo!  they surely are liars.

13.  But they surely will hear their own loads and other loads beside their own, and they verify will be questioned on the nay of Resurrection concerning that which they invented.
