[to The Opening]

Surah 72.  Al-Jinn

In the name of ALLAH, the Benevolent, the Merciful

1.  Say:  It is revealed to me that a troop of the Jinn listened, and they said:  Surely it is an awesome Qur'an,

2.  Which Guides to the right, then we keep faith with it; and we claim no partnership with our Lord;

3.  And that He, exalted the majesty of our Lord!  has taken neither wife nor son;

4.  And that the foolish among us used to speak concerning ALLAH an extremity.

5.  And Surely we had supposed that humanity and jinn would not speak a lie concerning ALLAH!

6.  And indeed the mighty of humanity used to invoke the protection of the mighty of the jinn and then magnified oppression;

7.  And they supposed, even as you suppose, that ALLAH would not raise one.

8.  And:  We had sought the heaven but had found it filled with strong wards and flames.

9.  And we used to sit in its places to listen.  But he who listens now finds a flame waiting for him;

10.  And we know not whether harm is intended to all who are in the earth, or whether their Lord intends Guidance for them.

11.  And among us there are righteous folk and among us there are far from that.  We are many brotherhoods.

12.  And we know that we cannot escape from ALLAH in the earth, nor can we escape by flight.

13.  And when we heard the Guidance we kept faith with it; so who keeps faith with his Lord, he fears no loss nor oppression.

14.  And among us are who have surrendered and among us are just trouble.  And whoso has surrendered to ALLAH, such have taken the right path purposefully.

15.  And as for those who are just trouble, they are firewood for hell.

16.  If they tread the right path, We shall give them to drink of water in abundance

17.  That We may test them thereby, and whoso turns away from the remembrance of his Lord; He will thrust him into ever growing torment.

18.  And the places of worship are only for ALLAH, so pray not to anyone along with ALLAH.

19.  And when the slave of ALLAH stood up praying to Him, they crowded him.
