Libertarians,
How do you feel about the fact that at least two of our fellow posters have in the past engaged and are currently engaging themselves in affecting the offline lives of other LF posters to their detriment by using LF and what is said here?
canvassing opinion,

Acquiring the ID of online persona wishing to remain anonymous, and subsequently using that information to harrass, stalk, or otherwise intrude into the real life of LF posters, should result in the banishment of the offending parties.
IMHO.
Same old bullshit.

Personally, what goes on here should stay here. It's really no one's business what people do outside of this forum, and frankly, I think if anyone's caught fuckin' around with the personal lives of people who use this board, their account and IP should be banned immediately, and permanently.
I'm not one for banning people for what they say here, or even if they want to fuck with the system... that can be handled without banning. But outside of this/that, screwin' with people's personal lives is off-limits, and these dick-heads who are screwin' around should knock it off post-haste. |

Good use of the gulch.
I think it is quite artificial to separate "your two lives" as they are really one in the same. And it seems that said poster actually knew the other poster or at least one of them in "real life" prior to LF membership (if I remember the incident correctly).
I don't see this as a problem of breaching some sort of online offline barrier, but certainly as generally despicable behavior. It seems certain posters have too much time on their hands, and a bizarre desire to snoop.

When you're calling people's school, or calling their parents and trying to fuck up their lives because you don't like what they've said on the internet, you've crossed the line and then some.
I say throw the bum out.
Shoulda been done long ago.
And if not, then some kind of public censure.

They're both scum of the earth and should be banned. |

It's sickening.

Assuming the allegations are true, permanent banishment. Opinions were posted on this forum in the expectation that what goes on here stays here. The information was used against that poster w/o that person's consent.

I was not saying that a line was not crossed, but rather explaing what line was crossed.
I say throw the bum out.
Banning IPs can only do so much.

If there is to be some action, what would the level of evidence be for proving that this has indeed happened?
The presentation of PMs alone is certainly not enough.

Fuck censure.
What the asshole(s) did are egregious acts (if the PM's are correct), and they don't deserve membership in any community. |

I would settle for an admission of guilt on the part of the principles, or direct evidence that they are attempting to conceal their actions.
Frankly.. I think they'd fess up if asked, and tell you there was nothing wrong with what they did.
